STEUBEN — No one was injured after a pickup truck hauling several pressure washing units caught on fire on North Steuben Road Sunday evening, according to the Western Fire Department.

Fire officials said the alarm was raised at about 4:26 p.m. Sunday for a Dodge Ram pickup truck fully engulfed on North Steuben Road. Officials said the truck was pulling an industrial pressure washer on a trailer behind it, with two additional pressure washers in the bed of the truck. The truck also had a 200-gallon fuel tank.

The fully involved truck was leaking gas into a nearby ditch, which had also caught on fire, officials said.

Volunteers from Western used foam on the truck to fight the fire and reduce flammable vapors, authorities said. They also doused the fire in the ditch to keep the flames from spreading to the woods.

Due to the amount of fuel involved, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was also called to the scene to assist.

The fire was doused and crews were back in service by 7 p.m. Sunday.
